About CJLC

History

The Center for Japanese Language and Culture (CJLC) was first established as the Special Course for Foreign Students at Osaka University of Foreign Studies in 1945. Since then, CJLC has been supporting our Country’s policy to accept foreign students by acting as the basic institution for the education of Japanese language and culture for Japanese Government Scholarship students for more than half a century.
Until now, the Center has produced 4000 graduates, and accepts around 150 Government Scholarship students from up to 50 countries around the globe every year. Aside from the preparatory courses of Government Scholarship students of undergraduate level and the training of students under the Japanese Studies Program, CJLC also contributes to the reinforcement of the development of Japanese Language and Culture learning around the world by establishing partnerships with 20 institutions overseas.
