Visit to the Kyoto International Manga Museum [11月 27,2012 ]

On November 20, the students and teachers of the Practical Japanese Course visited the Kyoto International Manga Museum. Mr. Yu Ito, the researcher belonging to the museum, led us for the museum tour, giving detailed explanations of diverse topics on Manga. After the tour we had a time for questions and answers, where Mr. Ito answered the various kinds of questions from the students so as to arouse their further interest in Manga.
Mr. Ito’s explanation of the deep relationship between Manga and Japanese society was especially helpful information to the students in studying Japanese language and culture, even to the students who did not read Manga so much in their usual life. For instance the fact he pointed out was quite impressive that Manga was merchandise, not work of art, and the market scale of Manga in Japan was incomparably large in the world.
